I find myself at Mocha Lisa's frequently for client meetings and absolutely love it for that, it's got a cozy, quiet atmosphere, big windows to watch the weather happen, comfy chairs, but! I have always found the food to be overpriced (easy to get away with in Clifton Park) and disappointing. Stick to the baked goods, they get them in from Dolce and Biscotti, and just order a coffee with flavored syrup. Ask for it "with room" and add your own half & half- there, you've got a flavored latte for $2. Need a little salt, grab a bag of those chips for another buck. It's really the only way to walk out of there without feeling like they stole your wallet and broke your heart.Alihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11068280616412794843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-60046721156925885602011-12-25T20:56:56.418-08:002011-12-25T20:56:56.418-08:00This has to be said.

I know in the northeast they have been commingled for generations, with chicken teriyaki available at almost every Chinese restaurant.

Japan, a small island nation with fewer than 130 million people still has a variety of regional cuisines. But China has ten provinces with populations greater than 50 million a piece, each with its own culinary identity.

If you wanted to combine cuisines, why not Chinese with Korean (which it borders on the east) or Chinese with Vietnamese (which it borders on the south).

This Chinese/Japanese thing is a mystery to me.

We need more regional Chinese restaurants that are devoid of Japanese staples. Even otherwise solid Chinese restaurants like Shining Rainbow cave and offer Sushi to those in Albany who demand it from any Asian restaurant.

It's insulting to everyone involved. And it needs to be stopped. Ichiban by virtue of its name alone is Japanese, and I will never consider them a Chinese restaurant. This is their decision and not mine.

If I named a place Dan's Donuts and served donuts and $50 prime grade dry-aged steaks, at the end of the day, the place is still a donut shop. If I wanted it to be a steak house, I should have called it Dan's Steaks (or at the very least Dan's Steaks and Donuts).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-24379502685989898042009-05-25T07:46:15.428-07:002009-05-25T07:46:15.428-07:00as I've written on other blogs...I love this resta...as I've written on other blogs...I love this restaurant and think it deserves a second chance from anyone that has had a less than satisfactory experience there.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-67680876814281774002009-05-18T06:28:00.000-07:002009-05-18T06:28:00.000-07:00love Phoenicians...and again, thank you for patron...love Phoenicians...and again, thank you for patronizing the local small guy rather than another chain.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-91183017069626133632009-05-17T13:15:00.000-07:002009-05-17T13:15:00.000-07:00Thanks so much for your comment Mari. Seriously.

Their brisket is amazing, the rendered beef fat is like butter.
The dry rubbed ribs can be ordered by the piece (if you are lucky you may be able to request an end).
I like the mustard pork (believe it's the South Carolina) but believe it's better in a sandwich topped with slaw. You might consider eating the sandwich at the counter, for it could deteriorate by the time you get it home.

I have no love of their sides, except for slaw, pickles and chili. But it's not exactly chili season.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-17551601090350044262009-04-04T12:38:00.000-07:002009-04-04T12:38:00.000-07:00way to go..another local restaurant, not a chain r...way to go..another local restaurant, not a chain reviewed!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-60600852645412590232009-03-26T18:39:00.000-07:002009-03-26T18:39:00.000-07:00We should do a team blog. I still haven't found it, but I've found a few that come close: Paesan's (tend to be big and meaty, true jumbos, but the sauce is only so-so, and they're almost never done crispy), Roma (average meatiness, good sauce, GREAT crispiness on occasion), Jessica Stone's (good all around, nothing stunning) and WOA. The one dislike I have to voice about WOA is that they focus on breaded wings -- so I'm kind of scared to order it without breading, much less specifying "crispy" or "well done." The last time I did that someplace that didn't know what I was talking about, I ended up with crispy little burnt chicken bones.

Roma (in Latham) is my perennial favorite ... at least for the time being.Andrew Baderahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00595155485109797786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-66376159427198479842009-03-23T14:25:00.000-07:002009-03-23T14:25:00.000-07:00I have never seen wings of such high quality serve...I have never seen wings of such high quality served at a restaurant before WOA.Roberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06525709794859881504noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-79866746736702567912009-03-23T02:49:00.000-07:002009-03-23T02:49:00.000-07:00The Burger Hierarchy:Five Guys > Fuddruckers (b...The Burger Hierarchy:

Five Guys > Fuddruckers (better buns and patties) ~= Red Robin (better toppings and fries) > McDonald's/BurgerKing > Wendy's

I'm told Tailgate Tavern down Western has a good burger; I intend to check it out this week.Andrew Baderahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00595155485109797786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029861416246036666.post-37766348778288232412009-03-23T02:48:00.000-07:002009-03-23T02:48:00.000-07:00Lukewarm and sticky -- 100% right on!
